Marriage Talk

The conversation we had at the table this morning for breakfast.

Rachel: I'm going to marry my bagel because I love it so much.

Elizabeth: Your bagel won't be alive when you're old enough to marry.

me: A bagel isn't alive period.

Rachel: Then I'll marry money.

me: Just marry someone who will treat you right.

Evelyn: I'm going to marry a prince.

I see a lot more deep felt conversations about who the girls are going to marry in the future.

Feeling the Sewing/Crafty Bug again

I have a stack of jeans for the girls that are worn out at the knee or otherwise unusable for normal wear so I've been saving them for camping. I saw someone post on FB how to make jean skirts so I went to town. Made one for myself, one for Elizabeth, and tried out a fabric ruffle one for Rachel. Can I just say I love, love, love the one I made for myself? It's so comfortable and it didn't take that long to make at all. The seam ripper is my friend as that's the key to jean skirts.
I also saw a tutorial for a washer necklace and thought I'd give it a whirl to give away for Mother's Day.
I must have too much time on my hands now that school is back in session or my children are woefully neglected when I get the bug!

Our Little Accesorizer!

We are in trouble if this little girl stays as cute as she is and continues her love for accessories!

Last part of Track off

The girls have now been back in school for a day and the house is very quiet. We had a great track off helped by the beautiful weather and planned activities. Two things on the girls' to-do list was go bowling and go to the zoo so we did.

So tell me again why in the human race we girls have to primp when in the animal kingdom it seems like that's the boy's job?

They had a great time bowling. We still used the ramps and bumper lanes but that makes it so much more enjoyable.

Happy Easter

We had a beautiful Easter here in Colorado with the popcorn popping on the trees, the sun shining, and a sugar buzz that lasted a few days. We had a little Easter egg hunt/cookie decorating playgroup through church the Friday before Easter.
The Cookie Monsters

On Easter proper the girls looked for the little bit of candy hidden around the house and Eric cooked a yummy breakfast.
True to holiday tradition, I probably ruined the happiness in the house by asking for pictures. Rachel glowered but Evelyn and Elizabeth were mostly cooperative but we definitely got the best pictures after church. This year for Easter dresses I decided to try my hand at making T-shirt dresses with material the girls picked out and I was pleased how they turned out.

Hello Spring!

In February we had one of the snowiest February's on record and then March was one of the driest on record with no precipitation. We've been spoiled with 60 and 70 degree days and I'm not complaining about the sun. I didn't even need to start my seedlings for the garden inside although I did thinking winter would rear its ugly head again. It's great to send the kids outside and let them jump on the trampoline for hours and then all the neighbor kids come to (I'm not going to go into my feelings on that). Thankfully during this great weather we are off track with the other schools on spring break so we can get out with friends.

Last Saturday we just needed to get out of the house so we went to Roxborough State Park for a little hike. This place must be really gorgeous when everything turns green.

The girls loved making little acorn people on their finger.

Monday we went to Game Shack after the kids finished their mommy school work (yes I'm that mean!) and some chores. They love playing skeeball and other arcade games there and winning tickets for prizes. It was a very windy day with gusts they said could reach 50mph so it was nice to go to an indoor place. In the evening I looked out back and saw that the sun was red--it was kind of freaky! There was a fire in the foothills, probably caused by a previous controlled fire not being so controlled and then the wind helped spread it.

Tuesday we explored Colorado Springs with two of our old neighbors from Ohio that now live in the Springs. Love the Air Force for bringing us all together again.

Here are all of the kids minus one--they've all grown up in four years!
We went to the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. It was a little pricey for what it actually was but the girls loved running around.
Then we went down the street to Garden of the Gods for a picnic lunch and exploring. Do you see the kissing camels?

Wednesday was a little playdate and then piano and soccer. Thursday and Friday were recovery days for me from the fun from the first part of the week! Here's to more fun in the next two weeks.

Happy Spring!
