Evelyn is 9

When did my baby get so old?  This girl has always been my smiley, sweet, and sensitive creature and I am so lucky to be her mom!  Evelyn's actual birthday was a very busy evening so she let us postpone celebrations to Saturday with Aunt Lisa and we had pizza, breadsticks, and cake.

Necklace and mini furniture from Aunt Lynne
 Craft kit from Aunt Lisa

Just a few of the things we love about Evelyn:
  • She seems to gather friends easily wherever she goes.  She has a couple school friends that love to call and chat for a long time.  Here she is with her friend Sydney at the Running of the Antelope school fundraiser.

  • Evelyn loves big-eyed stuffed animals and rotates through sleeping with a different one in bed each night.
  • Sometimes desserts are a little too much for her but any type of muffin seems to be a favorite.

  • Being the first one off to school in the morning she is always ready to go with a smile on her face.
  • She has an infectious laugh & smile.
  • She is usually very happy with a very kind heart, curious, and hardworking.
We love you Evelyn!

Back to School

Back to school means different things to different people:

  • To the kids it can be kind of exciting to see friends again not seen over summer everyday in classes but also nerve wracking because said classes mean work both at school and home.
  • To the teachers it means summer break is over and back to the classroom they go for full-time work.
  • To the parents (aka stay at home mom me) it means back to structured mornings, my partners in crime for fun excursions are now busy, no more needing to fill the "I'm bored" or trying to keep the kids off electronics all day, a lot more free time to do those projects that have been put off.
This year we started school mid-August and my girls were pretty excited for it.  They helped me sort out school supplies and lists and then go shopping for more supplies.  The day of they woke up to their alarm clocks and seemed to get ready in record speed.  I even had time to do some hairstyles.  School start times changed this year to elementary school going from 8am - 2:45pm and middle school going from 8:50am - 3:45pm.  Months later I'm still getting used to these new times and coming home from elementary school drop off and still having middle schoolers to take.  2 in middle school this year, when did they get so old?

Even though they will probably not cross paths at school, they do like being at the same school
