California Dreamin

I spent two weeks with my parents in sunny southern California and here are some pictures to tell the tale. We went to the pool most days (no pictures of that) and spent lots of time with Grandma, Grandpa, Great-Grandma Schultz, and my brother Mark. One day we went to the Skirball Museum to see the Noah's Ark exhibit. It was a cool exhibit with animals made of all different materials like a zebra with a keyboard or a snake made out of a pipe.
They also had a little cartoon exhibit where the girls pretended to be Batman.

We also drove out to Corona to see Eric's brother Greg and family. They treated us to a fun splash park and yummy BBQ. Shandra is in the background and was our expert water balloon filler-upper.Another outing was to KidSpace out in Pasadena. Thanks Nikki for coming with us and helping us have a great time.

I loved this dance the youth put together at Pioneer Day. It's called the haka and my brother was the best one on the dance floor

One of the reasons we stayed for two weeks was to make my dad's family reunion that he hosted. 5 of his 9 siblings came out and the pictures of us all together are on someone else's camera but as chronicled above, we went to the beach, did pioneer day that the Simi Valley stake put on featuring the youth dance festival, and we gathered at a church building with fun activities like balloon launching.

Until our next trip to so-Cal, here's to California Dreamin'.

Great big holes in the ground

So I'm a little late posting about my family reunion to Brian Head, Utah but here are a few pictures to show you how much fun we had. My parents got us a place at Cedar Breaks Lodge & Spa in Brian Head and all of us Bartholomew kids showed up for a few days of togetherness. We took lots of fun day trips to see a whole lot of beautiful holes in the ground. First hole--Cedar Breaks.

It's amazing what water can do. Second fun outing--Zions National Park and the Narrows river trail. Eric hiked Angels Landing but I don't have pictures of that.
What kid doesn't like throwing rocks in the river?

We also went to St. George where they have In-N-Out for all you Californians or fans that know just how good they are, it was worth the trip.

Third hole in the ground--Bryce Canyon. We hiked from Sunrise to Sunset Point and had great views of all the hoodoos there. So beautiful.

Happy 4th of July! I was sick all day but I think the girls had fun and saw the fireworks that Brian Head put on.

We also celebrated my brother Mark's 16th birthday!

I loved this shirt that Melissa and Trish got Mark.

Rachel got really attached to her backpack and stick from the Narrows. She still has to carry them around 10 days later.

Here's the family.

Edit by Eric:

I didn't take these pictures (found them online) but here's a few choice spots of Angel's Landing. These switchbacks aren't as bad as the picture makes them look.

This part freaked me out. But once you start hiking it it's also not nearly as scary as it looks.
