We got another round of snow last night with more to come tonight I think. Guess where Eric is during this streak of coldness? Warm and sunny Arizona for work for a week.

Piano Recital
This post is for my parents to see that their time and money to put me in piano lessons have paid off another generation. We had a little fall piano recital with my friend Melanie whom I swap piano lessons with for our girls and she has a few other students. My camera didn't want to cooperate with me so the pictures aren't the best.

A Taste of Fall
It's officially fall according to the calendar and has been for a few weeks now and the weather has agreed. Last Thursday we had snow and chilly temperatures all weekend and now it's back up in the high 60s low 70s.
What to do in the fall when it's freezing cold? Make applesauce and apple butter! Apple butter is a misnomer as there's no butter in it at all but plenty of sugar and yumminess to make up for it.

For the apple butter I used this recipe but peeled, cored, and chopped the apple at the beginning then blended everything again at the end to make it nice and smooth. For the applesauce I used something like this recipe but left it all chunky and the girls loved it. Using the crockpot made the house smell heavenly of cinnamon, better than any candle can do.
And I'm still getting things from my garden like this wacky carrot.
It's a Circus out There
A few weeks ago we took the girls to the Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus and they loved it. The arena was the Denver Coliseum and looked so old and dingy from the outside but was okay inside. Eric and I were reminded of when we took Elizabeth and Rachel to the circus in Fairborn at the nice Nutter Center about two miles from our house. Yes, this is Elizabeth age 2, can it really be that long ago?
There were the obligatory animal rights people outside handing out flyers and of course Elizabeth took one and being the sensitive one that she is, asked us all sorts of questions on how they treated the elephants and tigers. I don't know how much is true on those flyers but we tried to remind her you need to take those kind of things with a grain of salt.
Anyway, pictures! My camera wasn't working the best so they probably turned out pretty blurry. Most of the acts were acrobatics, clowns (didn't particularly like those as they were just dumb), and a few animal ones.

I don't know what she's looking at but I like the expression.
