The last day of the Presiden't day 4-day weekend it was a beautiful, unseasonably warm February day and we went hiking up to Panorama Point near Evergreen, one of my favorite close-ish places to hike. It was windy up top but the fresh air and pine trees are always a welcome change to staying at home.
I call this the kissing rocks. Do you see the "eye" on the right side, nose, and lips? Rachel, my daughter who is averse to any form of kissing wouldn't even look at this when I tried to point it out.
This past Friday I was mulling over what to do with the girls as it was again another warm day for winter and my friend Harmony asked if we wanted to go to the Museum of Nature & Science and since our membership is good for another month and the girls were excited, we went and had a great day.
Evelyn was most excited about the gems and mineral exhibit where she got to show off her knowledge of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks.
We spent about an hour and a half inside the museum going to the dinosaur exhibit and other animals and then headed outside for another two hours in the sun at Denver City Park where we had a picnic lunch, played at the playground, and walked around the pond. I sure do love Denver's sunny days and can't wait for things to start greening up, just in time for them to be covered in late snow I am sure.
Speaking of days off, I usually try to take my birthday off of anything work related and this year was no different, one of the joys of being self-employed. As the previously mentioned days we had a record breaking warm day for my birthday where it reached 80. I couldn't decide between a hike or bike ride so I did both. I biked high grade road and it was a little windy and tough but felt good and then went for a hike/run at South Valley Park.
We also did our annual cheesecake extravaganza but I can't find any pictures of that. Don't worry, it was delicious.
Now the kids have three full weeks in school (hooray!) and then spring break where we'll see if we're snow-bound or out enjoying sunshine and warm temps. You just never know here in CO.
