July 6--Fried Chicken Day. I think this is the second time I've attempted to make fried chicken, I don't think I'll be moving to the south anytime soon.
July 7--Chocolate Day. The girls ate chocolate Mini-Wheats for breakfast, Nutella banana sandwich for lunch, and we made chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
July 9--Sugar Cookie Day. I tried my hand at making sugar cookies from scratch using Eric's mom's recipe and now I know to roll the dough a lot thicker next time (and yes, there will be a next time!).
July 10--Teddy Bear Picnic Day. Since our roof was being redone (lovely hail damage, again), we had our picnic inside.
July 16--Corn Fritters Day. This southern recipe may be a keeper as the girls loved it.
July 17--Yellow Pig Day. What is a yellow pig you ask? I didn't know either so a quick Google search resulted in learning it's a day to celebrate the number 17 (my club soccer number just in case you were wondering) and a pig with 17 toes, 17 eyelashes, 17 teeth and so on. Evelyn drew a lovely picture but I forgot to get a picture of it.
July 22--Hammock Day. A lazy day in summer definitely calls for reading a good book on the deck in the hammock.
July 25--Thread the Needle Day. Rachel got busy with an old cross-stitch to celebrate.
July 26--One Voice Day. We read the Universal Peace Covenant together.
July 28--Milk Chocolate Day. As opposed to the many different kinds of chocolate out there, we celebrated milk chocolate day by going to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and Aunt Lynne treated the girls to chocolate bears.
July 29--Lasagna Day. For dinner I cooked a regular lasagna.
July 30--Cheesecake Day. Let it be known that my husband is the true cheesecake chef and this was actually my first attempt at making a real cheesecake. I just did plain with a strawberry topping and I'll keep the topping recipe but may just let Eric keep making me yummy cheesecakes in the future.
July 31--Uncommon Instrument Day. Eric found a good uncommon instrument to show the girls, it's called a didgeridoo.
Let's see what fun our final month of August doing this will bring!
