I Love to See the Temple

We were in the neighborhood and the girls were asking about it so we took a trip to the temple grounds, saw a bride, and went around the back where I'd never been before.

Just For Grandma

Here mom, the girls actually ran the Running of the Antelope this morning.  I think our jaunt around the track the other night helped too as they just shot out from the start and I couldn't keep up with them as I was with Evelyn.

Getting fueled up on pancakes made by the teachers
On your marks, get set, GO (the main group had already started)!
 Running down the home stretch
You can do it--yes they did finish.

All in a Day's Fun

Last Saturday I took the girls to the awesome Centennial Splash Park for the second time and I'm so glad I did.  I noticed a special event getting set up and later learned it was a celebration for Colorado's Olympic athletes so we stayed just a little longer at the park and got to see Missy Franklin and others!
 David Herman, BMX
Taylor Ritzel, 8-women rowing showing her Gold medal
 Georgia Gould, Mountain Biking Bronze
And of course the star of the show, Missy Franklin with four golds and one bronze medal.  She's just as energetic and loveable in person as on camera!
We love calling Colorado home with these wonderful athletes and more.

What we do when the Big Girls are Away

This week I've realized how boring a mom I am with just one kid at home.  Today I tried to remedy that a bit and since I can't seem to wake up early enough to workout before the kids get up I decided to kill two birds with one stone.  Evelyn and I had a nice bike ride around the reservoir dipping our toes in the water afterward at the swim beach and then playing at the playground.  I think we'll have to do this more often.

It's great to be an Auntie!

Back on June 1 this little guy Jordan was born to my sister Tricia and her hubby.  A week later they found out he had down syndrome.  It took me two months but I was able to sneak a weekend away by myself to visit him in Arizona and can I say life as an aunt is great!  I got lots of time holding this little cutie as he really is an easy baby and then I handed him back to his own wonderful mama.
Uncle Mark trying to figure out just what do you do with a newborn?  He's also giving me another reason to make a solo trip in September, this time back home to California as he prepares for a mission to Spokane, Washington.
Tricia busted out some Just Dance Abba style. Oh yeah, we rocked it!  I was surprised at how many of the songs I didn't know as I practically grew up on Dancing Queen (okay maybe that's a stretch)!
Great Grandma Schultz getting her time in nestling the little cutie.
Handsome in his Sunday outfit as he was blessed at church.
The Bartholomew siblings (and proud papa Danny) minus Melissa who wasn't able to make a quick trip from Cambodia to spend the weekend with us.
And the cute Pineda cousins with boys just three weeks apart.
Until I see you next month in CA little nephew, don't grow too much!

First Day of School

Any guesses on which child was actually counting down until the first day of school?  I'll give you a hint and it rhymes with achel.  Another school year is upon us and I'm excited not to have mid-day kindergarten pickup.

Elizabeth is a big 3rd grader and excited to learn cursive this year.
Rachel is an all-day 1st grader now and excited to eat lunch with the big kids in the cafeteria.

And of course Evelyn had to get in on the picture action and is so excited for another year of preschool starting in a couple weeks with a few of her princess friends.

Last week of Summer Break

I can't believe summer break has come and gone but here are some pictures of things we did during the last week.  The Arapahoe County Fair came to town so we went one evening and I'm happy to say that Elizabeth and Rachel are not scared of small roller coasters!

Isn't the sisterly love just great?

Did you know we have sheep and cows in the family?

 Bumper cars
On Friday we went to Pirates Cove with some friends and cooled off in the water until the afternoon thunderstorm rolled in.  Can you give me an ARRGGHH!
