Music Concert

What's more enjoyable than a 1st & 2nd grade music & recorder concert? Okay, well almost anything but it was fun to see how excited Elizabeth got to dress up as a moose for one of her songs and perform for an auditorium full of people--really it was overly cramped and I hoped we didn't exceed the fire code maximum occupancy.

I remember back to my elementary school days of the recorder, or what I knew as the flutophone, and how perfect our songs were (ha-ha)! We didn't start until 4th grade so I was surprised the 1st graders were learning. In case you want to enjoy the experience too, here's a video. My favorite part is the mullet-hair music teacher totally getting into the kid's songs but they love him. Sorry if it's a little shaky, Evelyn was in my lap and we were way in the back so I had to zoom in a lot.

Oh boy are we going to be in TROUBLE!

The other day I saw Evelyn sitting in Elizabeth's room listening to David Archuleta (thank you Aunt Melissa!) and I just had visions of her as a teenager. We'd better watch out!
She also looked too cute sitting on the couch with her friend Carson.

Out of this world

Rachel's preschool class has been talking about space and on Monday they made these cool space hats. Doesn't she make a cute alien?

A Mouse, a Moose, and a Little Green Frog Walk Into a Bar

Okay, maybe they didn't walk into a bar...

Southlands Ward Has Talent

Our ward had a talent show last night with some very good acts and I signed our family up for a little one to show support. I played Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy while Elizabeth and Evelyn danced on stage (Rachel elected not to participate). As you can see, Elizabeth does not get stage fright!

Another One Bites the Dust

One more tooth down, still more to go before the tooth fairy can file for bankruptcy. Oh, and I had the privilege of pulling this one out when she had it perpendicular to her gum.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The leprechauns didn't really visit our house (although Elizabeth brought home an invisible goblin named Naughty aka Tom) but I did go a little green this year.

Get Indoors and tri!

I got one more thing off my bucket list yesterday--I did my first triathlon. I think it counts even though it was indoors at a gym. No specific distances just how far you can go in a 10-minute swim, 30-minute bike ride on a spin bike, 20-minute run on the treadmill. The results--18.5 pool lengths, 18.2 miles on the bike (my legs were really spinning), and 2.65 miles running. I was tired by the running and feeling the full effects of being lax over winter but overall enjoyed it and might try to put a little outdoor triathlon together with some friends in the summer. And here was my bib number--lucky #13. I actually had 13 as my soccer number for awhile in my younger years but it got changed since someone else claimed it to 14 (high school) and 17 (club).

Green Eggs and Ham

Rachel has been learning about Dr. Seuss at preschool and they made green eggs and ham one day so the next day she asked me to make some for breakfast. This is what I came up with (had to add yellow cheese because that's what you do with scrambled eggs). I don't know how appetizing green ham looks but I promise it's just the food coloring!

Now I'm really hoping to see green outside soon because that dear old groundhog said it would be an early spring. Time to start the garden!
