New Job

For obvious reasons I try not to talk about my job much on this blog. But I thought it would be alright to mention that I'm starting a new job tomorrow. It's still quite close to home, although not as close as my former job. I think it will be a great opportunity and I'm both excited and nervous to start. It was pretty cool how the opportunity came about.

As I was searching for jobs I tried to make it a matter of prayer also. A few mornings in a row I kept getting a feeling that I needed to check out this one company. I looked on their website and didn't find anything that applied, but every time I prayed I couldn't get rid of that impression. Finally I applied for a position that wasn't a very good match. After a few weeks I got a phone call from a recruiter at this company (right before another company was going to make me an offer). Anyway, it turns out that they created a job requisition pretty much just for me that fit my experience well. Obviously I based my decision on many other factors as well, but that was an impressive experience. I am constantly amazed at the blessings I receive that I don't deserve.

More of Easter

I just wanted to post some pictures of the girls in their Easter dresses and a couple activities we did over the weekend. Let me just tell you how many stores I had to go to in order to find matching Easter dresses I liked, at a price I was willing to pay (if you don't know by now, I'm pretty cheap), with sleeves. Here is the result of my searching (thanks mom for looking too!). Easter isn't all about pretty dresses so I'm glad Eric posted about special moments with Elizabeth and the true meaning of Easter.

This is the best picture I could get of the girls together. They just didn't want their pictures taken.

On Saturday, we had our first foray into the world of Chuck-E-Cheese's as adults. If it weren't for our girls, I don't think we would consider going there on a Saturday even though I admit I do like skeeball a lot. I think Rachel and Elizabeth liked it but I'm sure there favorite part was eating pizza after playing. Note to other parents, get there early if you don't want to compete with all the birthday parties and normal heavy traffic of kids.

On Friday, I went to an Easter Egg hunt that my MOMS Club put together. Even though we had snow flurries and the kids were all bundled up, we played outside for a little bit and had a hunt for eggs. This year we can definitely say we had a warmer Christmas than Easter and I don't know if I like it. It's supposed to be a white Christmas and nice warm Easter, not the opposite!

One last picture that I thought was too funny to pass up. I guess Elizabeth got into my sock drawer and found some "pants" to try on. Yes, she willingly put on pantyhose, something I do only when I absolutely have to. She looked cute so I had to take a picture and share it.

Happy Easter

Since today is Easter I decided to watch To This End Was I Born. I started watching it with Elizabeth and had some pretty emotional moments, especially since she's old enough to start "getting it."

At first I had to explain what was going on in the garden of Gethsemane. "Jesus is suffering for our sins" doesn't quite work with a girl who just turned three. So I had to say something like "he is getting ouchies for our mistakes." It's amazing how desensitized we get to certain topics because we use the same language all the time. As soon as I had to explain it in simpler terms it was much more powerful. First of all, I realized that that isn't fair. Our justice system wouldn't permit such a thing. But that's the point, it wasn't fair, it was merciful.

The rest of the video was powerful because of Elizabeth's reaction. I had to explain to her that people weren't being nice to Jesus, and she couldn't understand why. When they scourged him and started nailing him to the cross she was pretty sad (don't worry, it's not very explicit, it's just the fact that she knew people were being mean to him). She got this sad frown on her face, like she was about to cry and would say "I need Jesus" whenever he wasn't in the scene. Of course, it was also fun to see her happiness when she realized Jesus was resurrected (alive again).

Of course I realize that a lot of her reactions stem from what we've taught her. It is also probably a product of letting her watch a show than is more mature than she's used to. But more than anything it was an emotional and powerful reminder of my beliefs and deepest feelings. So I just want to say that He Lives and Happy Easter!
