One of Elizabeth's tooths has been loose for many weeks. She has been so discouraged when it hasn't come out that today she hit the wall. I caught her trying to tie a string to the tooth and attaching it to a stool that she was going to have Rachel throw. It was actually yarn, so she couldn't tie it to her tooth, but that's when I knew she was serious.
After a call to her dentist on Sunday (who also happens to be my old college roommate, our friend, and our home teacher :-) he said that if I really wanted to pull it that it's best to twist it and to use something to get a grip. Oh, and he said she wouldn't like me as it would hurt. So I grabbed a kleenex, told Elizabeth it would hurt and asked her about five times if she really wanted me to do this. The last two times I asked I had my fingers on the tooth through the kleenex and she kept nodding. In typical dad fashion I asked one more time and as she was responding I twisted hard (dentists orders - don't pull punches or it'll be worse). Well, I lost the grip but the tooth popped out of her mouth right away! She bled for a while but she actually didn't complain about it hurting. She's just very excited about the tooth fairy.
Guess which hole in her gums is fresh?

The offending tooth. The tooth fairy has had problems in the past finding her teeth as she tosses and turns a lot and the tooth usually ends up somewhere on the floor. So we taped it to the bed frame this time.
