So is it worth it to drive 15 minutes for free donut? Of course it is when it's Krispy Kreme and it's free! Our MOMs Club took a "tour" of the Krispy Kreme store which wasn't much since the kids were bouncing off the walls and climbing in and out of seats. They were just excited to get a donut and a balloon. I hate to admit I ate three donuts in one day so it's a very good thing I ran 12 miles this morning. I didn't run that far just for the fun of it but I'm training for the WPAFB half marathon on September 15.
Here's Elizabeth watching the donuts getting glazed on the assembly line. I don't remember how many pounds of shortening they use a week, 100s of pounds and they don't have the throw it out because it gets absorbed into the donut in the frying process, yum. Elizabeth's MOMS Club buddy is standing to the right, Jonathan. They seemed inseparable during the tour and playing in the fountains; I'll have to remind her of the whole waiting to sixteen to date thing.
Isn't that donut yummy? You're too young to have your arteries clog up so enjoy!
After Krispy Kreme, we went to some fountains at an outdoor shopping place called The Greene. It's upscale, fashioned after an Italian shopping center or something like that and I still don't get how an outdoor shopping center stays in business during the freezing cold winter. I know The Cheesecake Factory is always packed so I guess the restaurants are okay and maybe the hot cocoa and coffee place inside the bookstore. Anyway, here are some pictures from them splashing around.
It's the only way to stay cool when it's 90 + degrees outside plus humidity.
We haven't been up to too much trouble lately :) I'm trying to get my Shade Clothing business up and going and it's been fun holding showcases as long as Eric doesn't mind watching the kids for me. I won't complain if he goes on a bike ride or out to California for a hiking trip. I've been busy rereading Harry Potter books 5 and 6 and finishing off the series with book 7. Right now I'm reading a book called Freakonomics by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner. It's interesting as I try to take the knowledge I gained in my Econ 110 and higher econ class to a more useful societal level.
The girls have continued to grow older before my eyes. Elizabeth has really expressed her stubbornness the last little bit so I try to keep thinking what works for that personality since I have some experience with it. I'm excited that she's going to start preschool in a little over a week. I'm doing Joy School with a few moms from church so I get to take a turn teaching at the end of October/early November. I think it will be good for her to socialize with kids her own age (although she is the youngest by only a couple months) on a regular basis and get away from Meany Mommy. Rachel is starting to talk a lot more, mimicking words and saying things only a mother can understand. So that's us. I'll post more when we get exciting but don't hold your breath :)
